On March 17th, medical school students across the country moved from student to doctor on Match Day.
This annual rite-of-passage happen simultanously at medical schools across the country -- on the third Thursday of March at precisely 11 a.m. Central.
At this time, nearly 30,000 students nationwide find out where they will spend their next 3 to 7 years in residency. During today's ceremony, 225 University of Minnesota medical students opened envelopes, revealing where they matched.
For Minnesota, the gains are big. More than half the graduating class is staying in the state, practicing in the Twin Cities, Mankato, Duluth, St. Cloud, and Rochester.
