We named her Blankita. She is in terrible shape. She is also a sweet heart that actually wags her tail even in the tragic shape she is in.
Mayan Families Animal Welfare Program is here to help her and others too.
The Lake Atitlan region of Guatemala's highlands is plagued with overpopulation of domestic animals.
Through its integrated projects, the Animal Welfare Program is raising awareness, reducing overpopulation, addressing public health issues related to overpopulation, and relieving the suffering of many domestic animals.
Sterilization and Vaccination Clinics. In collaboration with the only licensed, practicing veterinarian in the Atitlan region, we offer free and low-cost sterilization clinics monthly.
Education. Our School Education Program provides awareness in humane handling of animals.
Partnering. We have joined with San Carlos University, Guatemala City to provide practical experience to Guatemalan undergraduate students with a local veterinary clinic. Please visit us online at www.mayanfamilies.org for further information on how you can help!
