Beat Hotel Commemorated in Paris (short version)

Jean-Jacques Lebel unveils a plaque at 9 rue Git-le-Coeur, in Paris, commemorating what became known as the Beat Hotel. William Burroughs lived there during the late 1950s, along with Brion Gysin, Harold Norse, Gregory Corso, Allen Ginsberg, Peter Orlovsky and Ian Sommerville. Burroughs wrote much of "Naked Lunch" there. The unveiling was recorded on July 1, 2009, during the "Naked Lunch@50" conference sponsored by the University of London Institute. The conference marked the book's publication by Olympia Press in 1959. It also celebrated the publication of "Naked Lunch@50 Anniversary Essays," edited by Oliver Harris and Ian MacFadyen.
