Samudra, Sanscrit for Gathering of Waters, is a unique private compound in the gated Mudra-Samui community on the southern tip of the island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. Comprised of twelve custom designed, hand crafted structures situated on over four rai (almost two acres) of rolling, raised beachfront land, Samudra offers a rare opportunity to experience the integration of sea, sky, forest, craftsmanship, and luxurious comfort rolled into one.
Rates vary from $1,200 to $2,400 per night according to the amount of bedrooms required and the season requested.
Five king size bedrooms, with three living rooms, three kitchens, pool sala, covered outside dining area, infinity edged pool, and beachfront yoga sala, are complemented by a management office, and ample staff quarters. All the structures are hand crafted from reclaimed materials assembled from Asia and India. These include doors, windows, and furniture from China, India, and Thailand, a Javanese temple structure imported from Bali, reclaimed teakwood floors from the North of Thailand, massive plank decks, floors, and tables reclaimed from a boat yard in the South of Thailand, and tables, pathways, and sculpture formed from slabs of polished green Kanchanaburi stone. The interiors are softened by elegant woven fabrics, inspired art, and comfortable furniture.

With a staff of six and twenty-four hour security, amenities include high definition projection facilities with surround sound in each living room, three double kayaks to explore the lagoon and reef, and a Balinese stone tiled infinity edged swimming pool that blends seamlessly with the lagoon beyond. As a bonus, Samudra is a short stroll down the beach from the award winning wellness retreat Kamalaya where you can participate in yoga classes, work out in a health club, receive treatments in all forms of eastern and western medicine, and enjoy sumptuous healthy meals in two restaurants.
