The Nova union will set up a fund for instructors so they have enough money to survive or to go back home.

外国人講師救済へ基金設立を

説明会は、関東地方に住む講師が加盟する「全国一般労働組合東京南部」のＮＯＶＡ教職員組合が開き、外国人の講師やスタッフら５０人余りが参加しました。はじめに、講師た­ちが賃金の未払いによって銀行の預金が底をつき光熱費や家賃が払えないことや、ＮＯＶＡの社宅を追い出されて新たな仕事も見つからず困っていることなど、厳しい現状を報告­しあいました。講師の中には、日本語ができないため必要な情報を得られていない人も多く、労働組合の人たちが日本の雇用保険や社会保障の仕組みなどを説明していました。ま­た、ＮＯＶＡに会社更生法が適用された場合、更生計画の中に未払い賃金の支払いを優先させることや、講師と１年契約しか結ばない雇用形態を見直すこと、それに講師やまとめ­て受講料を支払った受講者たちを救済するための基金の設立などを管財人に求めていく方針を参加者の賛成多数で決めました。労働組合の書記次長のルイス・カーレットさんは「­組合で法的な手続きなどについて講師に情報を提供していくほか、インターネットを使って社会にも広く救済を呼びかけたい」と話しています。

McEikaiwa schools are over in my country though....... Indian and Filipinos can teach just as good if not better than these "Clowns" because they LEARNED English instead of so called "Native" speaker advantage..

There was no mention at the meeting of the union paying for people to go back home.

A fund was started to help pay for food for those in desperate need and to pay travel to union meetings for those who could not afford it.
