日本の英語は試験の性でもありません。
終戦時GHQが日本人が英語を覚える事を恐れて、英語が身に付か

@crown3388 He is angry at the Japanese standardized examination system and the weird English that Japanese people speak and he says that the problem isn't the teacher, but the exam system itself. And those of you that are complaining about 雰囲気whether its ふんいき、ふにき、or ふにぎ it just depends on the region of where the Japanese person is from. ふんいき is standard Japanese. If you want to know more about regional differences, read やさしい日本語のしくみ. It's all in Japanese but it's in easy Japanese.

「こんなの勉強してるの?試験に備えて文法を反復練習しなさい」

@fenstratful shut the fuck up you condescending weeaboo prick. guaranteed you aren't even japanese. he is not saying "funiki," he is saying FUN(g)iki. the way you are supposed to say the fucking word. if you can't even hear the difference between a nasal ん and "ni" then you really are not in a position to be telling japanese people how they should speak their own damn language.
PS not a mister, and fuck yourself in the ass with your pompous, pseudo-intellectual "good day sir" shit.

This video was uploaded like 4 years ago. I've just started learning Japanese, so maybe I don't have a right to say anything... but what's with all the hate, for so long! PS I'm from California, can you tell?

@dongbangwater you sound like an intelligent person... almost. You obviously never spent any time in Japan or you would be aware of the very normal usage of the pronounciation of ふいんき, yes, the correct written way is ふんいき but Koichi is pronouncing it ふにき, big difference Mr. Dong or are you too smart to hear the subtle nuance? And to say that Koichiben's pronounciation is 'perfect' further solidifies my 'opinion' of you. You're probably totally cool with his アメリカから見た日本のステレオタイプ. Good day sir...

@dongbangwater Indeed, I have always heard it pronounced as ふいんき, which is why when I heard him say ふんいき it kinda jarred in my head a bit. Of course, it could also be a dialect thing. I don't know, I have yet to visit Japan. As for 英語, I always just tried to play it safe and pronounce each kana separately and of equal duration for each. I try not to base my pronunciation off of English words/sounds, because it's simply not English and saying stuff like "eyy" or "ei" just over complicates it imo.

@fenstratful Criticism is good but you don't have to outright bash the guy. It doesn't matter if you were born in Japan. You have no right to insult someone who not only put in their time and effort to learn one of the most difficult languages for a native English-speaker to learn, but who also tries to share what he knows with both sides of the world. At least comment about the subject pertaining to the video. If you have a problem with his speaking, just be mature about it and PM the guy.
I'm going to come back to this video in one year, and I will understand it all!!

@PattMyCat little miss know-it-all it's obvious you're not Japanese or you wouldn't have bothered wasting my time, probably learned it on-line. I was born and raised there as were my parents and their parents, etc. What's your excuse? All my family and friends pronounce it ふいんきever since I can remember so what's up with this "nowadays" bullcrap... did you read that on-line too? Japanese from Nagoya on up to Wakkanai may be apt to pronounce it ふんいき but I have yet to hear it pronounced ふにき.
