Butterscotch is actually just the flavor of brown sugar and butter cooked to a sort of "caramel" (I put parenthesis because there's no real caramelizing going on). The light hints of butterscotch you sometimes taste in chocolate chip cookies is brown sugar.
The crackly top and golden brown color is the heating of the brown sugar developing the butterscotch notes.

whoops read the creamer part wrong!

she's using soy creamer. yeah it worked, for some reason it tasted like it had raisins in it... weird!

I bake with yogurt all the time, so that should be fine in the oven. I'm not sure what she's using the creamer for, but my guess would be moisture, so I'd probably use either milk or cream in its place.
how much of everything are you supposed to use?
