Video 1 0f 2 - Description of this engine's significance by Preston Foster

Go here for the second part of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yq4Pqts1oY

AT the 2011 June Coolspring show The 1883 Daimler engine made its first public run. Here Preston Foster ( the Coolspring Power Museum Curator) discusses the significance of this engine and the important contribution it made to the development of the modern gas engine.

After viewing this video - see video 2 of 2 for a detailed explanation of its operation and start-up

This engine is an exact copy of Daimler's prototype engine that was built in 1883 by Daimler - and later destroyed in a tragic factory fire in 1903. This reproduction was in fact built by the Daimler Corporation for Tom Stockton ( Ann Arbor, Mi) in the early 1970's. It is a running exhibit on loan to the Coolspring Power Museum.
