WOW! Amazing variety. Thanks for directing me to these vids. All the long chassis day cabs..drool, drool! This show has just made my to do list! I saw several examples of the external shutter mechanism on some of the Petes in both parts 1 & 2. In part 1 at 1:42 redish brown, 2:32 red, and 7:20 yellow, and in part 2 at 3:13 orange. And they all had the rectangular Peterbilt logos like the one I saw in Utah. One had a 1948 plate on it, so I guess mid to late 40's was the era for those.

I agree - old, original and unique examples are the best.
I will look for your '62 Pete at an upcoming event. Are you going to restore it to original condition or update it with modern running gear?

If you go to the slide show video (part 1) Theres a brownish red '46 Perterbilt lumber truck that I just couldn't take my eyes off of. I could keep pickin favorites till the cows come home, I really liked that yellow 55 COE lumber truck at the beginning. I have a soft spot for the '49-'57 350 model Petes, I also like the yellow and black oil field tractor at 1'13". I like anything old and unique and like them original not the west coast outlaw look... Thanks for the kind words.
what autocar is that 2:02 ?

@mccrackenphillip I didn't get the year or model, but from appearance I would guess its from the late teens or early 20's.

hey I enjoyed the video, I went to the show but to watch them rolling out and hearing the historic engine sounds is a neat part, where are you from, I just bought a "63 pete and like you want to restore it and go to the first show, however I want to take my time and do it right, I,m in the central valley

My truck and I live in Watsonville CA. I just got the battery box on and the cables in. Then I installed a new fuel filter and filled the tank. Today I am hoping that the batteries are charged enough to fire her up. I'm videoing it, so when it fires, I'll get it posted on U Tube. The exhaust system is on back order, but in a week or two it ought to have a new set of Dynaflex 5" straight stacks. Can't wait to hear it and decide if I want a muffler or not lol....

Thanks for capturing the sights and the sounds. Only thing missing is the smell of diesel.
The sound of an old Cummins - like in the Mack LT at the end of the video - is right up there with the sound of a 427 Cobra - sweet.
We missd the last day of the show. Based on the weather and the trucks leaving, it's obvious you shot this video that day. Thanks for capturing what we missed.
Which truck was / were your favorite(s)? Was there a Best of Show winner?

It has a 335 Cummins, a 13 spd and a 4 spd brownie. I am going to replace the 13 with a 5 spd. It has a Hendrickson walking beam ball buster rear end which I am going to swap for a Reyco tandem long leaf rear end with Eaton Ds 341's with highway gears. I don't want to air bag it because I'm trying to keep it looking classic plus it makes a lot more room underneath for working on it. It will get a butterfly visor and a 9 foot 5" straight stack exhaust. Still trying to decide on paint
