A Nelson herb farm is moving to the forefront of aquaponic technology in New Zealand, using fish to help grow its products.
Tasman Bay Herbs near Motueka already grows most of its herbs hydroponically, but last year decided to see if fish could give it a competitive edge.
Local interest in the project has been so high, the owners have had to open their doors and show how they're getting an extra kick out of carp.

People should be happy to pay for information that was hard won by research. Do you get paid for your work? Why shouldn't Dr Wilson be paid for his work and knowledge?

What I don't get is why aquaponic farmers are keeping the important information secret (ratios of fish and feed, etc). Creating food should be about sharing information so the world can sustain more people and starvation can be a thing of the past. Farmers will still make money even if they give out their "secrets".
