  • What a great vid! Beautiful to watch! The cool added communication we are enjoying hearing is a great example of how the AAR standard is to say "That'll do," rather than using the word, "stop." All the RRs use the same phrase to express to stop. However, most Defect Detectors say ,"Stop your train, stop your train." Interesting, but I suppose it's being used in a slightly different context.

  • Thanks Bruce! Good ole conductor Wilson has done this a time or two, about 35 years worth!

  • Do You Have A Railroad Radio or How Did You Pick That Up??

  • No, its just a scanner, you can buy them at Wal-mart or Radio Shack. Then you need to have the RR radio frequency.

  • When I was young my friend & I got a few ride alongs in Long Beach, Ca. We were in a switcher engine approaching an intersection when a patron off roaded to tell us about two double stacker cars that were derailed and cockeyed off the track about 16 feet or so that we were dragging abot 400 feet down the track - thanks to the spanish speaking driver/patron the engineer stopped the train and we got a ride back in their shuttle van. Happened like in 1989 or 1990. Trains are cool & switching is #1!

  • Sounds like a lot of fun. Switching rocks!
