Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - The 1000 Ring Challenge, Part 1

A challenge set by UltraMaXAtAXX.

I have to go through Emerald Hill Zone, ACT 1 & 2, Chemical Plant Zone, ACT 1 & 2 and Aquatic Ruin Zone, ACT 1 and have at least 1000 rings in combined total by the end! I may not take damage or destroy any TV boxes.

I had a thought... Did the person who set this challenge say anything about special stages? Would it be possible to go into a special stage and collect more rings there? There's no rule that said you can't!

This is possible with Knuckles where you retain all your rings after entering a special stage, while all the state rings (collected or not) are replaced.
