Pete's always been my fav. But I had been wrong about Jim Courier's personality. He really seems like a good guy. He does have a class. I used to think he was no good.

I'll also add, that after Courier said that, Sampras hit a couple more big serves to end the game...Fred Stolle notest that Courier is a friend of Sampras but then Drysdale then said "Courier is hot actually." Then as you see Courier walking his chair, he has a big sarcastic smile on his face, at he points out that he thought the serve was out.....not conclusive, but at that moment, he hardly seemed like a dear friend who was deeply worried about Sampras!

Don't be so sure. Courier does seem to be a genuinely nice guy off the court, but he was known as quite a red-necked, hot-tempered competitor in his younger days on court. He himself admitted that he had to learn to control it to get to the top in the early 90's. Here, though he says his comments were genuine....Sampras took it wrong...and some other observers at the time also thought Courier was actually mocking him a bit. Courier was ULTRA-competitive, so it's hard to say.

I remember watching this match live. When I saw him crying, I thought he was a wimp. And as is described, I thought Jim's offer to play it out the next was made with utmost sincerity. But then the transformation that was seen in Pete .. was amazing .. I think this is a match in which he literally grew up and became a giant in Tennis who ruled the world for long ..

I remember watching this live.Pete has always been my fav even though all said boring and with no personality.Then on the other hand jim great player worked hard but just ugh it's jim.Pete showed he was human and think lot people changed there mind about him then.As for jim i changed my mind.Leading 2 set to none seeing pete suffering over coach, jim said hey this just match we can do this tomorrow.Well wrong thing to say but a very classy thing to do and have been big fan of both since.true

amazing how many good americans there used to be in tennis. what the %&$& happened? roddick is a joke. for americans, tennis is just not the same. rather boring now.
