Ah, I've always loved that 'I don't speak Yiddish... come to think of it, neither did he' line; now THAT is humour!

"There was a time when I was young and gay- but straight!" I love that, especially considering the actors sexuality xD I can't help but crack a smile

Leo: Oh, how I hate you!!!
Max: Double! Double! Double!

@norfolk316 no i prefer hin and mathhew better than gene and zero

Am I the only one that prefers Nathan Lane's Max Bilaystock over Zero Mostel's? Nathan Lane portrays Max as manipulative, dishonest, but by the end genuinely caring about Leo and secretly emotionally needy and desiring the recognition he once enjoyed. I personally find Nathan's version a much more paltable version of Max and a more loveable con-man character.

2 people don't think it's good to be the king.

@ 3:31 - when nathan lane says - "who do you have to f* to get a break in this town?!"
- was not originally in the script, or written by mel brooks, - during rehersal , before opening night, nathan lane said that as a joke, and it went over very well, so they just added to the script

@Ademis Flo Ziegfeld was a famous broadway producer in the first half of the 20th century.
He had a certain style, so that's probably what Max is reffering to.
