@englandforeverist I'll leave your aloof "ludicrous" comment aside for the purpose of common courtesy and knowledge. Common courtesy is a way of being respectful. It is not based on the grounds of what is rightfully earned in terms of respect. And, I'm not arguing that respect cannot be earned, only that it doesn't have to be. It is important to have decency, so as not to disrupt the social structure of society. If too many people are being discourteous to one another then it's problematic.

@wwie397 Spies get respected for doing a job that most people really wouldn't have the aptitude to do, and if you know said spies then they really don't deserve any respect because they are clearly not very good at being spies. So, like I said, respect has to be earned! But I'm sure you'll come back with another statment as ludicrous as your last!

@englandforeverist Respect does not have to be earned! It is a good thing to earn other people's respect by doing what is right! But, perfect strangers respect each other on a daily basis! And, people still respect others even though what those others have done makes the people want to no longer respect them! What about spies! Spies get respect under false circumstances which means they were cheating to get that respect! This means that they did not earn the respect, they cheated for it!
