Samuel Avalos, 43, is the 22nd man rescued from the Chilean Mine. He served as gas monitor, sending readings to surface. He was trapped for 69 days in an underground mine along with 33 other men.

Hallo I´m a sister from germany and must say that samuel avalos must be a brother because he was on a Tv live show ( review of the year's events) - sunday 5th of dezember - ! Their he offert to the television presenter the mags and even a bible and told him how he was able to cope because of his faith!!!!!!! diffrent brothers here in germany saw the show too!

I don't believe he is a brother, and my reason is no brother should be wearing a t-shirt that it has flag logo on....to me he is not a JW.

@noexistanz You are right sister. Unless you see it or hear it from the organization its just speculation. Remember his letter didn't say he was a JW only that he used God's name. And like I stated earlier, and I have been told from those who have lived in S. America many use that name, not just JW's.

@utubeuser46 I'm actually a sister :) But I did see how he didn't have the flag around him, and they didn't chant the Chile, but just when the reporters were talking about him and all the stuff, i was like wait im confused. as were my room mates and friends who were watching the same thing i watched. I never once heard any reporter mention that a miner was a witness, nor still have yet to see anything on the JW-Media site. Maybe the news people just assumed he was by his letter?

@noexistanz Thanks brother. I couldn't have said any better. Just because someone uses God's name does not mean he is a brother. One thing to keep in mind is that in some countries it isn't at all uncommon to use a variation of God's name and yes in the form that is most widely recognized. JEHOVAH or a variation of that.
