YouTube not playing, how to download YouTube Videos

Sometimes YouTube video won't play, or stops playing, or plays the video but no audio. I suggest the following steps:

1) Use CTRL+F5 (CMD+F5 on mac) to refresh the page and try and play again

If that does not work then:

1) Shut down the browser
2) Shut down and reboot the computer
3) Try again

If you use the greasemonkey scripts you can download the MP4 files and play them on the computer itself, instead of through the flash player. Install these and then you will see a "download as MP4" blue link at the bottom of the gray video information box. Right-click and save as a filename that includes the .mp4 file extension, and once it is downloaded to the desktop, just open into any installed video player.

The screen was kind of hard to see and read, but I learned a lot from this video!

Follow the instructions in the INFO box, make sure you are seeing the High Quality version of the video, and resize it to full screen. It is very legible then.

I thought downloading from Youtube was illegal. I guess I am a fool.

._. my youtube is only letting me hear the audio and not seevideo is there anyway to fix this problem. im using google chrome and i checked to see if the flash player is up to date and it is but im still having a problem watching videos.

well its nice knowing it's not something I did wrong but You tube itself. I tried updating my flash, but didn't help any Let me know if you find out anything on how to get around it.

@sandi123111 I am experiencing the same bloody thing. The black screen, videos will not play. This has never happened before(??) One would think You-Tube would post a notification if they are upgrading and altering the system.

I just signed up on You tube but the videos still won;t play Just a black screen? Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
