After having traveled to every continent and 126 countries since 1971, it's gratifying to see such an array of fresh sights and sounds in the nearby, readily accessible neighboring countryside. Many of the byways outside of the larger cities in the more sparsely populated states were empty of traffic, owing to the effects of economic calamity and the post driving season (after Labor Day). 80 bucks for a year long Parks Pass pays for itself within 4 or 5 entries, and we visited approx. 11 parks at between 10 and 25 bucks per entry if you don't have one. We'll be back in Washington, Oregon and California next Spring.
Musical Score: Country Song (Pink Floyd) from "Zabriskie Point" (1970). Main theme (Bernard Herrmann) for "Fahrenheit 451" (1966). In Tangier (Herbie Mann) from "Stone Flute" (1970). Main theme (Bernard Herrmann) for "Vertigo" (1958). Prologue (Paul Horn) from "Inside the Taj Mahal" (1968) and "Fanfare for the Common Man" ( by Aaron Copeland (1942)
