  • @CalUVulcan53 6mm dasher is probably the best cal. You have to get above 210 grain bullet in 30 cal to beat the 6mm's BC.

  • well id have say if your not afraid of some recoil, i would go with a 338 lapua magnum, it shoots a 250-300 grain bullet and pushes it around 3000 fps. The good velocity and heavy bullet weight keeps the shot flat. If you wanted a lower recoiling rifle, i would go with a 260 remington. If you choose the correct loads, a 260 can be prob the best at holding groups, even at 1000+ feet, but wind will effect its accuracy, so if i was to choose i would say a 338 lapua magnum.

  • Thanks for taking the time to answer. If you'd have to chose a bullet for longest range (such as the shooting in this video) without going to the super large calibers like 50bmg, what would you say is best?

  • its not the best long range gun there is but it will do the job if you need it to. Only problem is that people say you cant shoot much over 180 gr bullets because the neck is short on the case and it effects your accuracy but i see people shooting heavier bullets then that.

  • @CalUVulcan53 - is the 300wsm basically the best round for maximum range?

  • @golfer15963 yeah its a lot fatter, if you hold the base of it next to a 30-06 its about twice that in circumference. Im not sure if you can fit more powder in a win mag than a wsm but what i know is the maximum powder allowed when reloading for loads are identical for each. I load 165gr bullet and it has a max load of 65 gr of h414 powder in each and it pushes the bullets at the same velocity also, so yeah technically, the guns are one in the same, but most people think the wsm is more accurate

  • @CalUVulcan53 is the short mag fatter tho? okay so basikly shorter but also fatter? does it still hold the same amount of powder as a win?

  • @golfer15963 i think you mean a 300 win short mag thats what wsm stands for. basically its a really short case that shoots with ballistics of that of a 300 win mag. Its to believed that the shorter case gives it more accuracy and a shorter bolt pull for quicker reloading after shooting.
