Milwaukee County Supervisors narrowly passed a budget this week, which raises the County-portion of the property tax levy 3.8 percent.
As he has in previous years, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker originally proposed a budget with a property tax levy freeze. He has vowed to issue vetoes next week that would eliminate the Board's 3.8 percent tax hike.
If seven of the nine who voted against the budget vote to uphold Walker's vetoes, they will be sustained. However, given Walker's candidacy for the Republican nomination for Governor, taxpayer advocates fear some of the Supervisors who had cast no votes this week will end up voting to override many of Walker's expected vetoes, thus raising the tax levy in the County.
The drama will play out on Wednesday, when the full County Board meets to vote on Walkers vetoes.
Walker really cares about the people of Wisconsin.
