This video is of the annual ice harvest on Green Lake, in Tully, near Syracuse. The public were invited to help cut blocks of ice from the frozen Green Lake using traditional tools, float them through a channel and transport the blocks to an ice house for storage. The ice will be used to help make ice cream for this summer's ice cream social in Tully. Ice harvesting used to be big business as people needed a way to keep their food, such as milk, cool during the hot summer months.
