I like Dave. He doesn't pretend the biggest guitarrist in the world. His abilities are very average, but maybe this is the reason, his talent is not cramped by the rules and the proccess of creation is so spontaneous.

I think when he doesn't know music he's been a tad sarcastic. It's his way of saying he's not technical or classical about his music knowledge. He's not too concerned about the rules of composition, if it sounds good it's worth checking out. I also get that his song playing is very strongly influenced by his drumming style; which more often than not is forming a drumline that mimics parts of the guitar section.
