Pat Foley was spot on with his assessment of Karpovtsev as a player. The guy never played a full season in his life, and the Blackhawks were not the only team with which he had a bad reputation. That being said, while he may have been a bad teammate, he was probably a decent human being and he certainly did not deserve to die in a plane crash. His family and friends have my sincere condolences. Once a Blackhawk, Always a Blackhawk.

Strange how when I heard Karpotsev died on that flight, this was the first thing I thought of. I love Pat and this was totally out of character for him. I feel so sad for Alex and all the families who lost loved ones today. The real sad fact is that these were all relatively young guys who I'm sure had young families. R.I.P.

another example was the 1980 Entry Draft.Montreal had the 1st pick,passing on local hero

Denis Savard,for Doug Wickenheiser.While Savard went on to HOF career,Wick was

booed to the rafters night after night at the Forum.He was shipped off to St.Louis and had

some success.Tragically he died of a rare form of cancer in his 30's.Did the fans in Montreal

cause his death.I think not.In sports, we boo the player,not the real person.

Having watched and listened to Foley for years,he's the best.What he said about the player

was true and 7 years later had nothing to do with his death.Foley was speaking about the player,not the person.How many Hawk fans booed the guy? Did this have anything to do with the

plane crash? NO! RIP

i like how Foley is one of those people who really factors in willingness to play and effort, as well as skill, if he sees a bad player that tries, he wont hate him, but he will want him out for the sake of the team, but if he sees a good player that doesnt try, as you see here, he HATES him.
