STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT

I've been feeling a bit shy lately, not sure why, but I've been holding back a few of my songs, and decided I would share this one... it's really personal to me, because it is basically about my feelings/struggles with my music, and how I feel about my goals and dreams, and how I hope/wish/am beginning to see them.

There's a distant star in the deep blue sky
I can see it flickering so bright
Like a jewel in the night

And I'm searching, gazing at the heavens
and wishing, straining for the unreachable
my feet are planted firmly on the ground
heavy, earthbound with unattainable dreams

There's a distant light, down a long dark road
I can see it shining so bright
Like a lighthouse in the night

And I'm running, racing down that lonely road
Reaching, stretching toward the light of hope
though I feel I'm treading water
falling, stumbling, the light is just beyond my reach

Star light, Star bright, I wish my wish on a jewel tonight
With a lighthouse to guide the way
Though the road is dark, my feet will not stray

There's a flame within, in my heart of hearts
I can feel it burning so bright
Like a bonfire in the night

And I'm basking, soaking up the golden glow
Looking inward to the reachable
finding answers in my soul of souls
smiling, glowing in my newfound goal
