ok, so music confuses me. So this song obviously isn't deep, its not bad or anything, but it's mostly aesthetic value right? so my point is that i know people that talk shit bout rap and other stuff they say has no meaning and is just for aesthetic value, but yet they listen to stuff like this. now why would some say its better, the sub pop sign of approval? maybe its because the intentions behind bands like these are more likely not to sell out but just to have fun? looking for opinions

I came here because I started finding bands I liked on their label, this was the most established band under Lil' Chief so I thought I would check them out and honestly I find it mediocre. As far as people who say rap/hip hop has no meaning have not heard of artists like Del tha Funky Homosapien, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Lord Quas, etc. Taste doesn't need to be objective though, if people dig this then that's awesome because if it wasn't for their success this label may not exist.

You must a seer because that is the problem with these "hipster" bands. They are more about how "vintage" they look,sound, and act.

In my experience, people who would love this but purposely hate anything for being on the radio are teenagers. They are too embarrassed and cool to listen to something popular and want music to be a unique reflection of themselves and don't want to attach to something that defines a large group of people. Once you reach a certain age you get over it and like music that you like whether it's popular or not.

Alot of Rappers play there own instruments. Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, Shawn Chrystopher, B.o.B., and Kanye West are all at least multi-instrumentalists. Even Lil' Wayne (who is a shit musician nonetheless)can play Guitar and Piano and will do it in some of his songs.
