he wasn't desperate to leave he just wanted a change in his life
Jágr even changed his religion from catholic (which is common for the christians in the Czech republic) to orthodox (which is typical for Russia) so what better prove of his close relationship to the Russian way of thinking can there be?

it's not that close, look at the globe :) from Omsk to Prague - 2427 miles :)
but he said himself that he likes Russian mentality better that the American one, so maybe that's the reason
