I'd love to get "Mary Lee Taylor's Cookbook" and make those baked cheese sandwiches. Anyone have a copy?

Originally aired live on January 4, 1955 [Bob LeMond, announcing]- and the beginning of Red's "resurgence" on TV; this was the first telecast of his "new" series, for new sponsor Pet Milk Company [and, beginning the week after, his new "alternate" sponsor, S.C. Johnson {Johnson's Wax}]. From this point on, Skelton's popularity [and ratings] started to climb, after three disappointing years for Procter & Gamble and Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Geritol). Within a year, Red was #1 in his time period.

He certainly deserved to be number one. It must have been very gratifying for him.

Hi hwy61, I'm so glad I subscibe to you Michael. This is my best ever show, Red Skelton. I love him so much. It is good to see hi, and also listen to David Rose orchestra. keep up the good work. I live in Australia, and this show was always on the top of our list when we first got TV in 1963 in NSW country. I used to sit on a chair on the foot path, in the main street, with about 20 others, and watch it through the window of the local electrical shop. Later we bought our own telly.

Red is so funny he has a rubber face, like Lucy.

Red was really great at contorting his face to fit a character. The baked cheese sandwich does look good. Thanks Rita!
