@creepr969 The U.S. shouldn't advertise itself as a place where "The American Dream" can be lived out if there's hundreds of communities that live in horrible standards of living. I suppose you could always take the attitude of "Let them rot in Mexico" though, if that's the level of compassion under which the majority of Americans seem to operate. You said the population was 8000 in the late 80's? Why is it under 4000 today?

City officials also warned that city employees cooperating with the U.S. Border Patrol would face dismissal. El Cenizo, a colonia chartered as a city only in 1989, had grown to a population of 8,000 by 1999, more than two-thirds of whom spoke little or no English.2

So far, I've been the only one who has made it out of that shithole with a Ph.D from Texas A&M. Everybody there settles for less, they like and love the way they are: mostly every single household depends on food stamps and other type of gov't aid...what a shame!!
