@StationaryHawk Because it's a sad story, like with every major boss. Deathwing was a good guy once, he got corrupted and used by old gods and they got rid of him after they no longer needed him.

Stringy webs held together by colossal bones almost the structure's height, once wings, fluttered in the air like the sail of a long-crashed ship.

Yeah that's Deathwing how he should look like: dead! Cataclysm was the most pointless expansion ever and I'm happy that it's finally over.

I hope they still include him in the next patch, maybe on his human form in Deepholm since the battle was on the Maelstrom, like they did with Kael'thas... His presence on this expansion was really short

@ArantirFo1 I believe that he was corrupted long before that, as he was corrupt about the same time as the Night Elves creation. It happened, because as aspect of the Earth, he could hear the Old Gods voices in his head, as they're part of Azeroth, and are in the Earth, and over time their voices became louder, and more dominant, eventually it began to drive him mad, thus causing his betrayal on his kin.

In this timeline, we are unsure how Deathwing, or Neltharion, has his life taken. Though due to the actual events in the 'real' timeline, obviously, he is ripped apart by the power of the old gods, and then slain by the 'heroes' and the remaining aspects
