Enrico Caruso and Louise Homer sing "Ai Nostri Monti" from Verdi's "Il Trovatore". Victrola Red Seal 89018 -- 12-inch record. This is one of several single-sided 78rpm records that I saved from the garbage earlier this summer.
The audio and the video were recorded separately, then synced together as best as I could. This was to ensure the best possible sound quality of these videos. No mixing or editing was done to the raw sound files. All pops, clicks and surface noise of the shellac are as they appear on the record, and honestly, I'm surprised a recording of this age still sounds so good.
A clear close-up of the labels for my Caruso uploads can be found at http://pics.livejournal.com/punktiger/gallery/00057xzx
I never could understand how Louise Homer could fit into such an illustrious opera company but I certainly do now!
Thank you!
