Castle bat (JiM SWEET) animation cartoon rough flip pad

This is an animation I did on the computer program Flash. I painted and scanned in the castle and mountains. I also scanned in and traced, with my mouse, each frame of animation for the Bat. Tracing is the hard way and long way to do it before I knew how to high contrast scanned in pictures and turn them into vector graphics. The song is the beginning of Is Your Love strong Enough by Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music and is also in the movie Legend.

Jim,

Did you do this entirely in flash or was some photoshop involved?

I am working on a fantasy type cartoon in flash and would love to learn a few techniques from you.

I didn't use photoshop. I pianted the background with acrylic paints, scanned it in, and imported it into Flash. The rest was done in Flash though. I worked the animation out first on paper and made registration marks on the paper to make sure I can line it up right.

That is really cool. Although I'd say the bat looks more like a dragon or something, right to the end when it looks like a crow. Still, awesome job. :)
