Irish button box basics. The Mason's Apron, more or less as recorded by Kevin Burke & Jackie Daly on "If the Cap Fits". This tune was requested by a subscriber, James. Feel free to press the "Like" button, and to make comments and requests.
@THEBOWMANBROTHERS Yes it is in A major but it's very easy to avoid the G# note, which means you can play it all on the D row, or using both rows of your D/G.
@klrietman: KB has always struck me as very open about the provenance of his settings.. Just checked the back cover of If the Cap Fits LP and it gives Killoran as the source of this tune. And no, I don't equate many parts with Scottish. :-)
I uploaded a dub of the Killoran 78 to archive.org years ago, search for it there. Also his Enchanted Lady/Holy Land, which showed up on a Bothy Band LP. I enjoy explaining to people in Portland (Kevin's home for quite a while now) who he is emulating/paying homage to/ripping off. ;)
There are quite a few different settings of this. Are you equating many parts with Scottish? There is a big setting for the GHB but the big setting in Ireland was slapped together by Sean Maguire, they say.
