Thanks for posting the wonderful and distinguish soundtrack of this spectacular movie! It's a very dear film to me.
This music is so quiet, so beautiful, so depressing and so sweet.

Doldinger`s version is made more heartly, more from the heart....

@NeverEnding1dr1 As I recall, another big difference is that the German version doesn't include the Neverending Story song performed by Limahl.
And interestingly, the theme of Neverending Story 2 is a weak modified version of Limahl's song. (Dreams We Dream)

Not Doldinger!

I love this theme. The flute part is captivating...
Ps : I'll Love Atreju forever :).
What a difference between the German and American versions! They're both fantastic, in my opinion! Thanks for posting! =o)

Why couldn't they just left this in the american version? It bugs me they always do this to internationally made films in the american versions (even though these films are made in English language)...international versions are always better, more complete.

Everything up until 1:33 is in both versions. Considering the Ivory Tower theme, its a matter of personal taste wich version you prefer, I think Doldingers is beautiful, but still prefer the Ivory Tower to have an own theme, like Moroders, while Doldingers is really a slow version of the Happy Flight theme. But there are truth in what you say.

oh yeah, in the american version, this is called the "Theme of Sadness"
so incredibly sad. :'(

It's true, this is almost the same music as in "Theme of sadness", but not completely. The "Theme of sadness", or "Die Sümpfe Der Traurigkeit" as it is called on the german soundtrack, is a somewhat different and calmer version, while I prefer this version.
