you know when we have melody , we have chord as background to support the song? a chord is usually made up of 3 tones like "d m s" which is a major, and "d m l" as minor. and Khalil usually does more than that by adding "d m s t" the "t" gives a very strange but beautiful effect to the chord which is called the 7th note. i'm not expert i'm still learning. love to share with you :)
hi, nice to meet you djor. I think I kind of understand what you mean. Is it like when you play guitar, we usually utilise chords with 3 notes (i.e. dms/dml). But Khalil uses ones with 4 notes , such as dmst. (which is uncommon) you can hear the difference by listening to the song? then you are way better than me :) btw, do you know if we can find any music sheet/ tablature by Khalil from the internet?
hey seems like you play guitar? i play piano actually, and i never know anything about music theory. i only got a pass in Grade 5 theory. but many years ago i played with my band, at that time still dont know what chord is. i used to play songs as i hear by my ears, and finally last year as i needed to do a performance with strangers (saxophone) , we need to use his sheets which only carries chord name without any notes for piano, then i started to understand chord name.
last time i went to Tom lee music and saw one scoresheet of khalil 'black and white'. only one..... also i cant find any sites that sell his scoresheets, maybe at most one or a few fan site that try to find the chord of few songs and poste on web.
why dont you try to find it yourself? it can train up your listening skill and understand more about chord (of course you know chord better than me :))
do you have email? i want to share with you more. do you have band?
