@BostonCreamDonut OK thats what i said. Albeit Canada barely beat out the russians and in all honesty Canada had to play dirty to win with Bobby Clark breaking the ankle of Russias best player 2 games ago. I'll give Canada credit for showing that fight in Russia which takes balls considering the KGB could have thrown their asses in the goulog

@Gyro911 Actually Canadian heart and skill overpowered the Russians. A Soviet coach once said, we have the Skill to match the Canadians but not the heart of the Canadians.

@Gyro911 Soviet players? ... show me where they were beaten with clubs on his legs ... and they didnt have Anatoli Firsov...best player las years.
-
@sar4es The russians could have done the same to any of they're players and they didnt have Bobby Hull, Gordy How, bobby Orr

Neither team was better then the other then. The russian style was far more effective, the only thing that saved the canadiens in this series was their experience and dirty play.

@manubrial Best comment of all!

Excellent comparison of goalie styles of that day. Tretiak was an excellent goalie who played the angles. Dryden was a reactionary goalie who flopped alot. The Soviets made a huge impact on modern day hockey. No one can deny that after watching this series.

to this day did anyone in Canada think that the Russians would have played that series if the though theycould not win ?
Best player on the ice: Kharlamov

@aegisknox a player like tretiek could easily adapt to todays game. Not too much has changed in goaltending over the years, other then size of equipment and goalies go down a lot more now. its just a matter of stoping the puck.
