C-Mon & Kypski tourdiary USA 2008 #1

After a 11 hour flight we landed in Houston. If you think you're there.... guess again!! You have to go through customs. All tourists who visited Mexico for springbreak fly into Houston too, so that means a 5 mile cue.
The camper we booked had to be picked up in Houston, so we stayed in a really cheap motel for one night. That's where this movie starts: having a beer after a killing plane/airport/customs day.
Next day we picked up the RV (recreational vehicle, camper). That thing is hUUUge!! And it's ugly too. Glad we arranged a different one for most of the trip. Driving this thing is an experience itself: 30 feet long, 12 feet high and twice as wide as a regular car. Off to Austin!
That night we played at the Karma lounge, the official dutch showcase during SXSW. The good thing of being on tour in a RV is that you have you're own private backstage area with you at all times. We stayed at Andrew Bergmans place for the week, and that's where Numark shipped our essential gear to: 2 CDX's and a regular turntable. The last one we will use to sample from records we buy on the road. Thanks Numie!
Andrew had this pingpongtable in his room.... after a good night out, Jasper (our soundguy, only there for SXSW) and i really got into the game. But i can tell you, it's not a game to play when tequila is involved... After we demolished it, we tried to repair it. It was up for one more day, when Kip and i had a friendly game of tabletennis... unfortunately it will never see daylight again. Sorry Andrew.
We were looking forward to the Enchanted Forrest gig, since we had done that last year and it was an amazing experience. This time it was even better. Lots of art, and what they call 'Hobo' bands; we'd say gipsy stuff. You can see Tyler there talking into the camera, he's one of the guys organising the events there. They had these big installations with fire, smoke and what not, it reminded me of Robodock. Supercool.
Our friend from Austin DJ Manny played Chemical Mixture, adding his own vocal over it. People were dancing their asses off! Manny's supercool, and a good DJ too. Not just because he was playing our track, haha.
