This is the fourth video in my tutorial series. I'll be starting off with very very basic stuff that looks cool, and as I progress in the series I'll use some of these basic techniques to make more complicated stuff. I don't like live commentating stuff because I tend to get side tracked and make mistakes. So all the steps I did in the videos will be put in the description box. And I am truely sorry about the language settings that gimp has, I don't know how to set it to English, so in this video its still Dutch.
in this video we are going to see have a look at the "IWarp" tool. Its basically used in retouching to slim down waistlines, thights, buttocks and enlarge breasts.
fun fact: 99.9% of all pictures in magazines are retouched somehow.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS:
1) Make a duplicate of your picture, you can use this to compare and spot out irregularities that come from warping. (eventho its not needed, its highly recommended)
2) Make a selection of the part that you want to "warp" and go to Filters - Transform - IWarp...
3) Depending on the size of your picture you will be able to enlarge the preview. I change my radius and strength because in GIMP when i load IWarp, the picture is blurry and distorted. Going over it with a big radius and no strength will make it clear and remove the distortion.
4) The radius will determine how much of the pixels you will be moving, and slider below that will determine how strong the transformation will be. I usually stay between 20 - 60 for my radius, and 0,30 - 0,50 for my strength
5) Select the "move" radio button, this will alow you to shift pixels around freely. You can start by pushing in those lovely love handles. If you somehow make a mistake, you will have to start over, so be careful and do it slowly and carefully. You may want to stroke downwards too, play around with it, see what works best.
6) when we are done moving all the areas we want to, go to the "grow" radio button. This will allow you to "zoom in" on specific areas. I choose the boobies. By choosing the right radius, you can grow them by clicking in one spot, otherwise you will just have to play around with it a bit.
7) Click the OK button. Now its time to compare and start looking for irregularities. A few things you may want to look for is wavey background, sharpness of edges where you warped and blurryness where you used the grow function.
8) by pressing the eye in front of your top layer you can keep swapping between the old and the new picture, this will make it easyer to spot mistakes that give away that the picture has been edited.
9) The best way to fix the irregularties in the background is by adding a layermask. If you have not seen how to use layermasks yet, please check out my video tutorial on how to use layermasks and custom brushes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBaIvvAE9SU
10) Add a layermask, and choose a black brush. Start brushing over the "warped" background, this will make your original picture come to the front and unlike your warped picture, it does not have a dodgy background. again, practise makes perfect.
11) Note that minor details can't sometimes be fixed with a layermask, but after we apply the layermask, we can use the mend tool to fix that. If yo don't know how to use the mend tool, please check out my mending tutorial video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mtxumDSEzA
12) once we're done fixing as much irregularities as possible, apply your layermask and select the "blur" tool. Make sure its set to "blur". Start stroking along the warped edges to make them blend in more with the background and look more natural. You can sharpen your growed area too.
13) Once you've done all that, you can use the mend tool to fix the final unfixable mistakes.
14) and now we're done! easy as that.
Please leave a comment if you want me to do voice commentary to make it easyer for you guys. If enough people want that, I'll make sure the following videos will be commentated.
Just a little FYI: If you are doing this to your photos, make sure you are warping only what you want warped. A crooked wall or swervy photo in the background is a dead giveaway that you altered the picture. You almost should pull the subject out and put back on the background - more advanced techniques but more professional and realistic.

@wiregirl12 yes, i know that. but instead of going into details, and like.. cutting out the silhouette, heal/copy stamping the background, then editting the cut out silhouette etc etc. i decided to keep the video under 10 minutes as at the time i uploaded this, that was the actual youtube timelimit on videos. i could do it more professionally, but these are just tutorials to teach people how to use the basic tools and what they're intended for.
