I miss Roses, from the 80's and early 90's, they had snack bars that sold popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs. Today's Roses stores remind me of Big Lots
I also remember there was a guy who had videos of the Rose's Store in Morristown shortly before it's closure in 2003 and the demolition of the building as they prepared to build Home Depot. I am thinking that he's a former employee from the Rose's.
I grew up with the old Rose's store, when it was in it's original location in the Morristown Plaza, and when it moved to the JC Penney's location following that store's relocation to the College Square Mall. It's been ten years since Rose's closed and since replaced by a Home Depot. I wish Rose's would come back to Morristown. They also used to have a store in Newport, where Tractor Supply store is now.
awesome post!! I was the Sight and Sound Dept Manager at Roses #436 in Morristown, TN back in the late 80's early 90's.. Yes, we used to have these cassettes playing over the store sound system everyday.. this was back in the good ole days when Roses was like a small Walmart with brand name merchandise... not that cheap dollar store junk they have now..
