It is unlike me to post 2 Kottke tunes so close together (I know they can be boring to some) but I have been trying to get this song down for a couple of years and I just got it to a level that I deemed presentable. I don't usually use fingerpicks on guitar anymore, but I am here, because I couldn't get it to sound quite right without them. Video recorded with a sony bloggie touch, audi recorded with a Zoom H2 ( visible in the lower right corner of the frame)

I Hope you enjoy. Please feel free to leave comments, questions and suggestions.

  • So this is probably like a cardinal sin of music or something but I have no idea who Leo Kottke is. However, after watching this spectacular piece and your last upload I shall have to look him up! Great job!

  • @nornielovesavetts Thanks!

It's not a cardinal sin at all. he's mostly known among other fingerstyle guitar players. I'm glad to hear I've introduced you! he was my first guitar hero.

  • you got a dislike bro , that means someones jealous you just beat the shit out of that guitar , great video . !

  • I'm 62. Been a Leo fan for 40 years. I NEVER get bored of Leo tunes and make sure I go see him every time he comes my way. There's maybe 4 or 5 guitarists that are able to recreate the Leo "sound". You are one of them. I've been viewing your videos for a few years now and you never fail to impress. Great job on this one. All the best,

    Joel

  • Nice, playing Leo like that, very nice! Good on you!

  • Good job. Hey, there is no such thing as boring Kottke.

  • This is great and you clearly enjoy playing it, most impressive.

  • Like Joel I've been a Kottke fan since '6 & 12 String' was first released. You've nailed it. Happened on your rendition of 'Vincent Black Lightning' then stumbled over to this. This internet thingy sure beats listening to my scratch old LPs. Thanks for your hard work, CD NYC

  • Keep playing Kottke! It's not boring at all. I am glad I found out who he is through your videos.

  • @200000028 I'm glad you introduced me too! I've been watching him and he's pretty spectacular too!!! Keep up the good work! I'm always excited when I see a new upload!!!

  • I think I finally figured out how you play Leo's songs so well: You are a nephew of his!!! (smile)! Great job, WHERE do you pick up such great renditions of his work???

  • Love it, Josh! Fingerstyle sounds so good on a 12-string. You do Kottke well.
