American soldiers in Vietnam find a unique way to smoke marijuana. Though soldiers laughed at the novel method of getting blown away, when parents and congressmen saw this film on TV news in November 1970, they not amused.

Under pressure, the US military initiated a major marijuana suppression, but only succeeded in driving ever-more soldiers to smoking heroine, which was odorless and easier to conceal. A tobacco cigarette would be rolled between finger and thumb to loosen the tobacco, and the cigarette would be partially emptied. A five-dollar plastic vial containing 250 milligrams of 95-percent-pure heroin then would be poured into the cigarette and then smoked. Thousands of soldiers were now returning home addicted to heroine. Uncounted among those wounded-in-action, they were in just as much pain.

I don't know when and where you were in VN, but by 1971 well over 50% of the enlisted men in my unit (most held top secret clearances) smoked marijuana daily. Frankly, I can't recall knowing any enlisted man who DIDN'T smoke! I even saw a number of officers walking alone down the roads at night with a joint's tell-tale 'tracers' falling to the ground. Few troops smoked during duty hours, though... unless the duty was night perimeter defense... that was a perfect excuse to party all night long.

@wowbland Many people seem to think that but according to science it downs your productivity by 33%. I believe you can judge all you want from the stories of the "hardcore stuff" in comparison with the stories of the "minor stuff" {minor being marajuana and hardcore being coke/heroin/meth ovcourse}. In the end its a drug no matter what the usage. Fighting for your country id really think about what I was doing before inhaling that shit

@deezlesteezle I agree with everything you said except for the "10% THC" part. That was south east asia man, the weed there was just as good as the best shit we have in the states today. They've been cultivating cannabis for smoking purposes for thousands of years. You think good weed is a modern development? The whole thing about pot being more potent these days is bogus. We just didn't have much good stuff in THIS country back then.
