You'd think being the top station in the market, ABC 33/40 would have a better opening, especially the music package.

@Bororeed 33/40 isn't the number one station. WBRC is usually the leader in the market, especially in the evening time slots.

@ctmajka in some respects, they are. Their weather coverage is the most respected and watched in the market. They usually battle it out with WBRC for number one. In some time slots they can be number one. Lately though BRC dominates.

WOW they finally got a new set, but they still have that same old theme from the late or mid 90s....

I like the open, brings back memories of WJLA's open (pre-HD). The look works for them. But I don't think the music matches though. Hopefully when they go to HD they will get the new WJLA HD Package.

I totally agree with you. My grandparents live in Jasper, AL and I watch ABC 33 40 when I go down there. I'm from Lexington, KY which our #1 station is WLEX-TV which is our NBC affiliate. We have about the same graffics and our music is also by 615 music.

I love this open. The graphics and music are great, and the shots of downtown Birmingham are beautiful, along with the shot of the news chopper in-flight (which I always love in an open). The one thing that would make this perfect is if it were longer... I'd love to see a few more seconds of it.
