What I really find interesting is that it does not say anything that they thought it said. Nothing about slaves, shots, or even the President... A great example of how "word of mouth" changes over time..

Please be advised that Lincoln's watch was in fact Waltham ( Wm. Ellery ) model,NOT a P.S. Bartlett

Lincoln's watch was a Waltham model 1857, P.S. Bartlett, 11 jewels. This was a modest watch, owned by a famously modest man...
