The patient was a 9 year old, medium cross breed dog. An abdominal ultrasound in December 2010 revealed a left adrenal mass of approximately 3.49 x 2.23cm. Fine needle aspirates diagnosed Adrenal Hyperplasia. A second scan on the day of the surgery in January 2011 revealed that the mass had grown to approximately 4.3 x 3.2cm. A laparoscopic adrenalectomy was performed by Jan Doedens MRCVS at Medivet Richmond, assisted by Alison Canning RVN. Three trocars were placed, and the procedure took an hour. Histopathology revealed Adrenal cortical adenocarcinoma.

  • Sorry about the lateness of my reply, I wanted to double check the patients history. The dog is doing very well, it's been 9 months since the surgery and he has had no post operative complications.

    However, each case is different.

    Good luck

  • Did this dog have any post op complications? My dog was recently diagnosed with and adrenal tumor and when I asked if they could perform surgery laproscopically, surgeon said no.
