Yeah, that's why he was so often seen trudging back to long leg muttering to himself, practicing his action and shaking his head. Don't get me wrong, McGrath was an amazing bowler; one of the all time greats, but perfect he was not. Additionally, acknowledging that Steyn has a great bowling action (simply flawless is clearly hyperbole in this context) in no way negates anything that McGrath did. Are you just upset that the best fast bowler in the world isn't Australian?

You want flawless watch an over of Glenn McGrath when he used to play. Every ball, same runup, same action, same release, same line and length ball after ball after ball. Get Dale Steyn to do that and then you can brag to the rest of the uneducated world about how flawless his bowling action is.

Shane Bond's action is flawless..

Flawless?! WTF! He chucks his effort ball!

Hes a fantastic bowler but i never really thought of his bowling action as anything above normal.

he is copying shaun pollock style
Bloody hell. No one here actually saw this...HE BOWLS OFF THE WRONG FOOT!!!

@aaqucnaona94 actually he bowls off the correct foot. His left foot is always infront at the release of the ball. This allows his right leg to follow through after the left leg is braced. I believe u have mixed it up there buddy.

a high jump is bad for fast bowling....

@CSH373 considering Steyn is the top test bowler in the world right now, and has not had many injuries. I find that hard to believe, lol. Just stating the facts here.

@CricDilan007 No I meant that his front foot is still in air when he releases the ball as compared to say, Glen McGrath or Brett lee who ground BOTH their legs before releasing the ball. See the video: 'Cricketcoachingblog Brett lee bowling action'.
