A Georgian student speaks about the Russian invasion of her country.

This conversation is presented in four parts. It was recorded from SkypeCast. I set up the room and titled it 'Wars In the World' that day and served as moderator.

SkypeCasting was set up for group conversations over VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) via Skype. The program was ended several weeks after this conversation was recorded.

SkypeCast was one of the most fascinating VOIP sites that I came across in Internet history. Audio was usually clear and one fellow had his video camera active. He took me on a visual tour of the internet cafe he managed in Morocco.

One could set up a room and people would come from all over the world to talk about current affairs, talk about their country or town or to learn the English language. I talked with people from throughout the world. And learned what most will never know. I felt like a sailor on a three masted sailboat going into the unknown. There were no moderators and one was in control of their own room. A room could fill with up to two hundred people! The average room was about twenty.

I took the chance and set a room for teaching English. People from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Japan, Missouri, Mecca and China would come to the class. The people that attended my class had a thirst to learn English. And the people that came were polite and good and thought highly of our country, The United States of America. And I thought highly of them. I would have them read a few paragraphs from books. I used The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Sophie's Choice and the classic Lord of the Flies. I sent the students links to movies that I found on YouTube and used the Google Maps with the satellite view enabled to see their town and the topography.

I spent many a night and burned the midnight oil into the morning and into the day listening and talking with wonderful people from our beautiful planet.

Indeed, SkypeCasting was a special facet on a diamond we call the internet. I and the people that participated in the SkypeCasts were fortunate.

We may never again see the likes of a SkypeCasting again.
