@thechewydude Actually its to make sure the spring in the Mag does not get hung up and the ammo feeds properly. tapping it WILL NOT GET DIRT OUT
-
@shermonruler The original M16 had lots of problems, primarily due to the usage of low quality "dirty" ammo. The original M16 wasn't even issued with a cleaning kit because it was believed to be so advanced it cleaned itself. The M16A1 was a much better improvement and didn't have all the problems people tend to associate with the M16.

@thechewydude Or it's to seat all the rounds towards the back of the magazine to prevent feeding failure.
-
@martynvk from my understanding the m16a1 had TONS of problems in the jungle's of vietnam, got lot's of soldiers killed. They were better off with the m1 garand imo
-
The sound of that M60 makes me hard.

@thechewydude Dirt and also if magazine is old or and lot used it'll get more loose in time by time. Little tap will get all rounds lined nicely and there is less likely "skew ammo" in your gun.

Oh shit. It's a Nikon F.
-
...Think we got him.
-
@martynvk it's actually to make sure the round is seated back in the mag

I love animal mothers war face ooorah!!!!!
Something I've always wanted to know.. why do you often see Vietnam soldiers tap the magazine against their helmets?
