Here is how to set up your digital television signal, just in case you didn't know how.

This is the simplest method I could think of.
Note, like the video says, you only need a converter box if you have an analog television. VCRs count as analog devices fyi.
The United States transition is on June 12, 2009 (most stations will transition from analog to digital only at noon).

You do need the right antenna for over the air DTV too. A wire hanger won't work.
The bigger the antenna, the better the signal. If you live in a major market, you probably would get by with a smaller antenna. Rural areas will require a bigger UHF/VHF antenna.

  • Hi. I have the same RCA setup as on the video. I'm only able to achieve 10% on the signal bar after constantly adjusting the antenna, at 10% I'm not receiving any channels. Not sure what to do to correct the problem, where did you purchase the antenna that is on the video, is it a long distance antenna?. Please let me know the website where you purchased the antenna that is shown on the video and any other suggestions.

    Thanks

  • @sodbuster1x Search Amazon.com or Ebay for VHF/UHF TV antenna with rotor. That antenna is designed if you live within 30 miles of the stations. There are others available if you live farther away. Also try googling Antennaweb.

  • ok i have the same converter box as you and the only way i can get at least one channel is if i put all 3 of my antennas through a cable line splitter all the way back in the bathroom and a 60,000 ft cable that circles every room twice before it gets to my tv in the living room but then i only got 3 channels. annalog had 21. my landlord said that it felt like walking into the power plant. so i had to take it down. i use only one antenna and an amp and i still get nothing. what am i doing wrong?

  • @tracemaster100 You shouldn't need 3 antennas unless they are all for different bands (i.e. VHF-lo, VHF-hi and UHF). It sounds like you have too much cable. You didn't say much about your antenna type and where you are. After the transition here, I lost a lot of channels too.

  • @Ubstudios the first one is this flat 360° RCA antenna claims to pick up signals lying flat. the second is a square phillips antenna w/ rabbit ear telescoping antennas built in on the back he 3rd one is just my old rabbit ear antenna.

it shouldent matter if my walls have lead based iron studs should it?

  • @tracemaster100 Actually the material in your walls matters considerably. Its likely your house blocking the signals. Analog didn't have a problem with this as much, but digital does. I recommend an outdoor antenna. The 360 RCA antenna isn't that good. How far are you from the TV transmitters?

  • @Ubstudios ch5 is only 3 miles ch11 is 50 miles ch13 is 300 miles ch 29 is 1800. i remember geting some odd channels back when it was annalog and they only came in from 3.15pm to 5.45pm. one was ch 34 coming out of ft collins CO. another was on ch49 broadcasting somewhere out of phenix AZ and 4 others were radio stations. why do these lcd tvs have analog? my lcd tv is only 9 weeks old. most people who get cable have a box that comes with it... kind of makes no sense.

  • @Ubstudios which is kind of a problem because of my landlord. she says that she dont want any antennas outside. am i screwed on geting tv?. ive litterally tried placing the antenna everywhere. on the floor. behind the tv. by my window outside. i even bolted upsidedown in the attic and always negative results exept a royal chewing from my landlord. i kind of dont want to spend $6000 a year on cable so you wouldent happen to know of any other places than you tube and hulu i could watch tv?
