KRAFTWERK CANCEL SHOW - Melb 22 November

Kraftwerk were forced to cancel their show in Melbourne for the Global Gathering Festival on the 22nd of November 2008, when Fritz Hilpert suffered from a heart attack and had to be hospitalized. Ralf Huetter, as well as another performer of the show walked up on stage 20 minutes after they were due to start, to announce the news.

The MC in the beginning is announcing how Fritz Hilpert has suffered a minor heart attack and has been rushed to hospital... so kraftwerk will not be performing but the [not so] good news is that the Gorillaz [sounds system] will be performing on the main stage instead.

Ralf then apologizes for having to cancel the show and seems quite distraught about the whole situation.

The MC goes on to ask if its fair to say that Kraftwerk will be returning to Melbourne when Fritz Hilpert recovers and Ralf replies that they will definitely try to do a sideshow in Melbourne in the near future.

We wish him the best of luck, for a speedy recovery.

yeh it was hard to hear when live too, but he said they are really sorry for cancelling and he promises they will try book a sideshow in Melbourne in the near future.

he looked really distraught which is fair enough.

That was really ballzy of Ralf to be there to tell them. Many performers would have been like "oh well". Shows that he has class and cares about the fans who already paid tickets to see Kraftwerk.

I'm sure he would rather have been at hospital w/Fritz.
