Feminist and author Gloria Steinem had a good comment on CBC recently - she notes that it takes a hundred years for a culture to absorb a big new idea. So like flat-earthers, Ku Klux Klan members, anti-feminists, creationists and the Catholic church that excommunicated Galileo for claiming the sun and not the earth was the centre of our solar system - deniers too will go down in history as a point of view.

"They grew wine in England." Errr ... there are over 400 commercial vineyards in England and Wales TODAY Mr. Singer. Denialists really should check the facts before opening their mouths.

Man made global warming is a religious belief, not a science.

His college degrees were in engineering and physics. The closest he's gotten to being an "expert" on this issue is, for whatever reason, being offered a teaching gig at University of Virginia in Environmental Sciences, as well as first director of the U.S. National Weather Satellite Service. But there's no REAL indication that this guy is ANYWHERE NEAR an expert on GW and climate science. He's just another conservative denier faker.
-
I actually read his book "Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years", and I was like, "Well, if this is true, it MIGHT put a dent in the global warming theory", but then I LATER found out that he's referencing a theory that ONLY APPLIES TO ONE HEMIPSHERE! And is no way conclusive, either. Not to mention that it sounded like he was probably cherry-picking what studies he referred to in his book anyhow as "proof" of his side.
Besides, this guy's not a climate scientist at all.

If the vast majority of scientists have come to the SAME independent conclusions about something, you bet your ass it's probably true. Who am I supposed to believe, a small elitist group of deniers or the scientists who actually know their stuff?
-
Fred Singer, just give it up. You're a TOOL of industry! Stop denying what the vast majorit yof scientists have tested and AGREE, based on peer-reviewed, heavily-studied science, is TRUE. Of course, science is not a consensus matter, but when the vast majority of scientists who heavily test something, esp. in today's high-tech world, all agree on a position, there's a very high chance that they are right.
The chances of YOU being right are probably 5% or less. I'm not risking it.

Get Singer:
It's not warming - I'm right about this & they're wrong.
OK so it is warming, but it's not due to human activity - I'm right about this & they're wrong.
OK so maybe it is due to human activities, but warming's a good thing - I'm right about this & they're wrong.

To the fuckhead AGW-deniers who think they deserve an equal voice with the scientists on climate: I'll allow you that, as long as I and everyone else, who has with no legal or police experience, gets an equal say with judges and police officers over forensic science, whether someone is guilty or innocent of a crime, and what the punishment should or should not be.
Stupid people, leave the science to scientists. You are naive to think you know more about climate science then the climate scientists.

@klnine right tens of thousands of scientists are all in on some massive conspiracy to lie about global warming. just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not happening. why don't you get over your childish hatred of al gore and actually look at some of the real science behind this. and by real i mean not funded by oil companies or their front groups.
