The harddrive I used in in the enclosure wasn't the one I purchased with this order.
All you have to do is:1.Properly power down the DVR by hitting the red reset button. It will temporarily power down for a second & then reboot, so pull the power plug quick.
2. Install the harddrive into the enclosure.
3. Plug in the E-SATA in the back of the DVR.
4. Power on the enclosure first then DVR. Note: this will disable your dvr's internal HD. Content will not be deleted.

If your harddrive in the enclosure powers up & formats correctly it will work. Some harddrives won't work.
